Vapor Barriers

Vapor Barriers

One of the environmental challenges several regions of the country face is the ability to utilize previously contaminated sites. In order to construct buildings in these areas, most states will require that a vapor barrier is placed underneath the structures. There are two general ways in which this is accomplished. The first method is to excavate the entire area, line the excavation and then fill the area with compacted fill. The other option is to place a liner within the footings and attach it to all the concrete piers, footings and utility lines.
